Dated operator licence check — £19
Before you hand a load to an operator: one licence, checked against three public registers, on a dated document for your file.
£19 per licence, PDF by e-mail within 24 hours. You get the report first and pay after, by card.
What a valid licence can still hide
The free page tells you a licence exists and is valid. That is where most checks stop. Here is what sits behind that word, among the 68,588 valid licences in the DVSA export of 7 September 2026:
| 31,794 (46 %) | are Restricted: they may carry the operator's own goods, but not other people's goods (gov.uk). An operator you hire to move your load needs a Standard licence. |
| 729 | are held by a company in liquidation, in administration, being struck off or under a voluntary arrangement, according to Companies House on 1 October 2026. |
| 239 | carry a company number that is not among live companies at Companies House: the company was dissolved, or the number on the licence is wrong. |
| 636 | are held by a company whose accounts are more than two weeks overdue. |
| 585 | are Standard licences with no transport manager named — a Standard licence must have one (gov.uk). |
| 58 | transport manager names appear for more than 4 operators — the limit for a freelance transport manager (gov.uk). A shared name is not always the same person: the report says so. |
| 469 | licences changed status, type or fleet between the exports of 18 August 2026 and 7 September 2026. |
None of this is on the licence page, and none of it is on one page anywhere. The report checks your operator against every line of this table — and says plainly when nothing calls for a question. These figures are recomputed from the registers each time the page is rebuilt.
What the report contains
- Points to check, most serious first — or the plain statement that nothing in the three registers calls for a question;
- the licence explained: what its type allows, what its status means, continuation date, vehicles and trailers authorised and in use, and how its fleet compares with others of the same type;
- the operating centres, with their full addresses;
- the people the DVSA names on the licence — transport manager, directors or partners — and, for each transport manager, how many operators, licences and vehicles carry the same name in the register;
- the company at Companies House: status, incorporation, registered office, activity, accounts and confirmation statement — overdue or not —, outstanding charges, previous names;
- the waste carrier registration under the same company number, with its tier and expiry;
- what changed on the licence between two DVSA exports;
- every rule quoted from gov.uk, with the page it comes from, and the date of each source.
An example
A real report on a large Standard International licence, with the names of the people replaced by a placeholder — names appear only in the report you order, never on this site. Example report (PDF)
Order
£19 per licence. We send the PDF first, then a payment link — card: nothing is paid on this site, and nothing before you have the document.
Who prepares it
Yannick Schweizer, Avenue de Chillon 78, 1820 Territet, Switzerland — an independent service, not affiliated with the DVSA, the Traffic Commissioners, Companies House or the Environment Agency. Sources: DVSA operator licence records, Companies House, Environment Agency register of waste carriers — all under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
Limits
The report is not an official record: the DVSA's vehicle operator licensing service and Companies House are authoritative, and a change made after the export dates is not in it. It does not cover the operator's compliance risk score, public inquiry history, MOT results or insurance.
